Located in north San Diego county, Bates Nut Farm is a great day trip option anytime of the year, but fall is naturally a scenic time to visit.
Last fall I visited on a warm weekday morning and though it didn’t feel like fall, at Bates Nut Farm autumn is in full swing. Pumpkins galore. Big pumpkins, small pumpkins, fairytale pumpkins, warty pumpkins!
To get started I grabbed a wheelbarrow and made my way around the field. It was nearly impossible to pick just one, so I picked nine! Nine is just a little more than one…right?
After loading the pumpkins into the car I continued to explore the rest of the farm.
Goats, Alpacas, pigs, chickens, peacocks and donkeys are just a few of the farm friends that were enjoying this warm fall morning.
Next I wandered up to the Farmer’s Daughter Boutique. This beautiful rustic shop had a wide selection of gift items, clothing, and holiday inspired decor…but wait!…There’s more…
Right next door is the Bates General Store, with even more! Inside were rows of nuts, dried fruit, soup mix, preserves, homemade fudge, barrels of candy and wide assortment of specialty items.
Toward the the back of the store is another room with more home and gift items. Really, you can pretty much do most of your holiday shopping right here!
