Make your own foaming hand soap as a gift idea, or for yourself
As the holidays approach, useful, unique and reusable gifts may be something you have been hoping to find. Soft, silky, scented foaming hand soap may be just the right gift for someone on your list.
I always felt that foaming hand soap was a bit of a treat. A treat that came with a higher price tag, more so than regular gel hand soaps. So I went in search for a way to make my own. I knew there must be a recipe out there for a DIY foaming hand soap. It didn’t take too many clicks to find one. And this is just one of a few ‘recipes’ out there:
Ingredients:
- A foaming hand soap dispenser ( for a link to the kit you see above click HERE)
- Liquid Castile soap ( such as Dr, Bronner’s)
- Carrier oil (such as Argan oil, almond oil, Jojoba oil – optional but adds a bit of moisture to offset the dryness of the soap)
- Essential Oil (lavender, peppermint, orange, lemon, etc.)
Instructions:
Soap dispensers come in different sizes so exact measurements of each ingredient will vary. Think of dividing the container into 5 parts, so:
- 1 part liquid soap
- 3 parts water
- 10 to 15 drops of essential oil (optional)
- 1 teaspoon of oil (Argan, almond, Jojoa etc.)
- 1 part air, which allows for the foaming action
First pour the water into the container. Next, slowly pour in the liquid soap. Add in the essential oil, then the carrier oil. Screw the lid onto the container and gently swirl to combine all of the ingredients.
I recently came across this set and knew immediately who needed this. I loved being able to put this together myself as a gift for someone else.
Here is what comes in the kit:
- 1 – 16oz. mason jar with lid and pump
- 2 – smaller jars with lids
- labels for each jar
This kit is also available in bronze or silver.
Making your own foaming hand soap gives YOU control over the ingredients.
