  • Nature Center open Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 12:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday 9:00 am to 3:00 pm

The Batiquitos Lagoon is a 610 acre Ecological Preserve that borders south Carlsbad and Encinitas. It is situated along the north side La Costa Avenue and just south of the Park Hyatt Aviara Golf Course.

The trail is fairly flat which makes it ideal for an easy stroll or a run under the dense shade of a Date Palm or a long reaching Eucalyptus branch.

There are many places to stop and and sit along the way.

According to the Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation website, about 185 species of birds have been seen during different times of the year.
